The memorial is approached via a narrow path up the side of a hotel - the entrance is marked by a nice painted sign:

Interestingly, the names for the Second World War appear on a panel above those for the Great War. Was the memorial raised up onto a new base after WW2 so that the additional names could be added?

Roll of Honour for Skye & Lochalsh by Graham Ross . ( Portree library & at Inverness library)

Kyleakin War Memorial :

The Memorial was unveiled on Friday , 15th April 1921 by Mrs MacInnes of the Kings Arms Hotel , whose only son had fallen in France . It is designed in a Celtic cross form of Peterhead granite and was sculpted and erected by D & A Davidson of Academy Street, Inverness . It is erected in the part of the village known as the "lump " and overlooks the Kyle of Lochalsh . The Original Memorial was severely damaged when struck by lightning and is built into the plinth of the replacement.
