This my first post as a brand new member, so here goes!
I started research a few years ago concerning bronze casting foundries of the period c1890 and c1940. This period obviously includes the casting of many war memorials. It seems that whilst many records still exist, it is often very difficult to identify which of the handful of bronze foundries cast certain pieces. Sometimes the bronze has a marking/signature, but other times it is only from press reports at the time of commission or unveiling that we can identify who made the bronze. If anyone has been able to identify a bronze statue/memorial as being cast at my ancestor's foundries...either Alessandro Parlanti or E J Parlanti, both of London, I'd be most interested to hear as I can then add them on to the ever growing database. Perhaps in time whoever cast the bronze will be better known, as it was there were only a few foundries at the time who were capable of having the skills necessary to produce these monuments. Many thanks.
