I cant see any mention on this index so thought I should mention that on the STV news this weekend just past Sunday 23 August 2015, Kilted Prince CHARLES , Duke of Rothesay attended the CABRACH CAIRN , LOWER CABRACH Aberdeenshire and laid a wreath to the thousands of casualties from the surrounding area who were lost in the Great War .

The community built the cairn from stones from the surrounding fields to show the death that was in that area of that county .

Pat - Cabrach appears in the Moray Civic Memorials section

but I'm not sure enough about the geography to say which county is correct.

I posted the unveiling of the cairn earlier.

Cabrach is now in Moray Council area so is included in the Moray section.

The parish of Cabrach used to be in Banffshire before 1975 - then becoming part of Grampian Region when it was formed. When Grampian Region was broken up in the 1990s three new councils were formed and two - Moray and Aberdeenshire - used former county names but with new boundaries. Poor old Banffshire did not reappear and its former parishes were split between Moray and Aberdeenshire. Cabrach is one of the parishes that became part of Moray.

Thanks

Adam
