The graves here are documented on the War Graves Project Forum but I thought people might be interested to see the website for the Friends of Glasgow Necropolis. I was at a fascinating talk given by one of the "Friends" and he mentioned the Roll of Honour on their site.

Very interesting and thorough resource...
I happened to open the first man's entry and did a double take:

Norman Macleod Adam, MC
...
Burial Glasgow Necropolis
Originally buried near Fontaine-les-Croisilles, near Arras, in 1922 Norman Adam’s family arranged for the surreptitious exhumation of his body from its isolated grave in France. Unlike some other families who tried to bring their loved one home, the Adams were successful and Norman Adam was reburied in his grandparents’ lair in the Necropolis on 6 July 1922.

Were there many instances of this? Were many successful?!?! |

Wow, that's a new one on me. His CWGC entry confirms it if you look at the paperwork attached to his webpage

I guess that the fact that his father (Frederick Archibald Adam C.B.) was a Major General might have helped???? _________________ Ken |

Morag Fyfe has been in touch with me.
She is the compiler of the profiles in the Roll of Honour section and, on behalf of the Friends of the Necropolis, invites everyone to post links to any appropriate ones from this forum.
She is currently working through the casualties there chronologically and has reached April 1917 (just over half way through the project). _________________

She might want to have a wee look here:

Sometimes it helps to have an idea of what a gravestone looks like to be able to find it if it's proving hard to locate.
I'm sure I have many more photos for the Necropolis, but for the moment, I can't remember what I might have filed them under!
