This WM is inside the parish ch which is in Glendaruel, just behind the Glendaruel Hotel. This is about 1.5 miles north of the junction of the road to Tighnabruaich and Colintraive.

When I find out how, I will post a photo.

I don't know if this is the civic memorial? At the time of the First World War there would also have been a United Free Church in the parish. All the names on the memorial are on the CoS roll of honour.

Also look at the long list of names on the Second World War roll which would be for a combined parish after the 1929 reunion of CoS and UFC

Look at the list of dead on the plaque too. Four out of nine names are officers. In my home town of Brora (Clyne Parish) the CoS memorial has a similar number of names and a similar split between officers and other ranks. Meanwhile the Clyne UFC plaque is a lot longer and is mostly other ranks.

I think this should be moved to the church section and a further investigation is needed for the Kilmodan/ Glendaruel civic memorial - if indeed there is one.

The tanker "Arca" was torpedoed and sunk by U118 off the north coast of Ireland when inbound from Philadelphia.

Completely "off-topic" but interesting - U118 turned up on Hastings beach in April 1919.
