- Died at sea of malaria, following influenza, Duncan, beloved only son of the late Mr MacKintosh , sheep-manager, Pityoulish, Aviemore and Mrs MacKintosh, Druieside, Aviemore, late teller Bank of Scotland, Stevenston. Interred, Ikoys Cemetery, Lagos"

Deaths at Sea, 1781 - 1968 Transcription states that Duncan was born in Inverness in 1896 and died on 4 November 1918 age 22 at sea. The record confirms the age, date of death and shows the place of death as "6 miles off Lagos". Duncan was a wireless operator and last address was in Aviemore.

At the outbreak of hostilities he joined the O.T.C., but latterly enlisted as a private in the Camerons. In November last, when on foreign service, he received his commission in the Gordons. He was 22 years of age, and the eldest son of Mr Archibald Scott, 10 Witch Road, Kilmarnock"

"Archibald Scott attended the University of Glasgow from 1913-15.
