The paperwork was his service record and the district was a bit unclear to me.

Joseph Byers who was shot at Dawn was not the 16/17 year old from Dumfries identified in the book 'Shot at Dawn'. We still don't know who he was or where he came from.

If anyone has pics already or is planning a visit to this memorial, can you please post pics of the name plaques of the following:

Harry Ashton - Scottish Rifles

Bertie McCubbin - Sherwood Forresters (listed on SNWM, his father was born in Stranraer)

Charles Nicholson - Yorks and Lancs (not listed on SNWM, both parents born in Wick so he should be on SNWM)

William Smith - 2 Rifle Bde (born in Whithorn, Smith is an assumed name, real name William Milwain)
