The church was located at 123A Paisley Road.
Began in 1884 when work was inaugurated in the Plantation district, services being held first in Kinning Park Police Hall and then in a wooden structure in Stanley Street. In July 1886 a church and halls at 123A Paisley Road were bought from Parkgrove Congregational Church, more than half the price being contributed by Mr J Campbell White (later Lord Kilgour). The cause had originally been called Plantation Free Church, but in recognition of the generous gift the name was changed to White Memorial. A suite of halls in Portman Street, previously mission premises, was given to the congregation by Pollokshields East U F. The church having been destroyed by fire on 29th July 1952 the halls were renovated and dedicated as a hall-church. They were later used by Kinning Park. Terminated on 8th June 1958 on uniting with Paisley Road as Cessnock. It is now part of KINNING PARK CHURCH.
Extracted from the In Memoriam Book located in Kinning Park Church, Eaglesham Place, Glasgow G51 1PS

Anne - the Glasgow Roll of Honour has them both of 4 Porter Street and the Headstone Schedule for Robert's grave has the Next of Kin as Mr D Ferguson of 4 Porter Street, Ibrox, Glasgow - so it looks like the parents moved to Prestwick after the war. _________________ Ken |
