This Dunnichen church war memorial is located on top of the Communion table within the church . The church over these recent years has merged with the Letham Parish church and there is or was some suggestion that this old church could close and be sold .
Ive not heard anything further as the Letham minister left the parish !

It has been notified that the Church of Scotland has directed that the DUNNICHEN CHURCH will be closed during the month of AUGUST 2011 and be put on the market of Churches listed under the control of the Church of Scotland be sold ..

Dunnichen church is a joint congregation with Letham parish Church and Kirkden parish . (Kirkden church near Letham closed in the 1950s and had its roof removed but the WW1 war memorial is still there )

Don't think that the public are happy with that .....

Pat,

That's August come and gone. Any news on the memorials being relocated to Letham per chance?

today I communicated with Councillor David Lumgair who is an elder at the joint churches of Dunnichen and Letham (Angus ) and asked him about the War Memorial communion table in the Dunnichen church . He did not realise that the communion table had a war memorial plaque on its top but he will now look into the matter .

I have today visited the rededicated (refurbished ) Church Of Scotland at Letham Angus.

As the Dunnichen church is no longer in use the church at Letham have now got the Dunnichen Communion table with its WW1 ( and WW2 ) war memorials that list the church casualties in this Letham church .

Letham church does not have a War Memorial inside the church of its own as the village has the war memorial in the park .
