This year a new memorial was erected in the village of Waterloo, just outside Wishaw. There were already two memorial plaques to the two World Wars inside the Memorial Hall, but it had apparently been decided to build a memorial outside to create a focus point for Remembrance Day.

Here's images of the new memorial:

Together with a close-up of the names:

Here's a clipping from the Wishaw Press, featuring the unveiling:

David

We had a discussion when this memorial was first unveiled as to whether the village of Waterloo itself should be considered a war memorial. Its history seems to point to it being named in the early 19th century after the famous battle so to me that would mean it could be classed as a war memorial.

Regards

Adam

This was the first memorial posted on the forum almost seven years ago.

This thread, however, needs some housekeeping and the separate memorials will need to be split into new threads.
