Perhaps the new records available from Ancestry which records the next-of-kin details may help establish which of the two George Campbells this is?

Thanks

The only details in the "effects" database are essentially Christian names of relatives who claim some or all of the deceased soldiers backpay and war gratuity. No addresses/surnames of anyone. It is quite limited.
As it stands I believe the Campbeltown soldier is nr. 1892 only because of his service number and how close it is to the numbers of the Docherty boys.
Soldier 1892 has a father named John who received £5/7/6d in May, 1919.
Soldier 2164 had brothers and sisters (not parents) who laid claim on his lying monies - all common Christian names - and who's to say his father wasn't a John?
In the 1901 census a George Campbell (8 ) born at Campbeltown and living in that registration district has a father named John and a mother named Catherine. Nothing to join this specific lad with the soldier 1892 or 2164.
