By chance I came across a record of AH Logan's family gravestone - whilst I was working my way through a book of pre-1855 monumental inscriptions...
Located in Coldingham Priory churchyard. Houndwood is in Coldingham parish.
Stone 197
David Logan, farmer, Ferney Castle 12.1.1870 66yrs
wife Elizabeth Hastie, born at Edrom Manse, 30.11.1807 died at Ferney Castle 20.11.1887
Adam Hastie Logan at Ferney Castle 11.8.1915 69yrs
his son Adam Hastie Logan killed in action in France 22.7.1918 30yrs
David Logan at Ferney Castle 2.3.1930 56yrs
his wife Gwynhilda at Abbey Park 26.3.1933
Agnes Veitch wife of Adam S Logan 17.11.1936 86yrs
===
John Hastie Logan at Ferney Castle 9.3.1848 5yrs
John Logan at Ferney Castle 5.3.1845 8 months
George 7.5.1861 15yrs at Ferney Castle
===
William R Logan drowned at Coldingham Sands while bathing 24.8.1865 61yrs
So confirmation that it is the same man and so his entry on the Houndwood memorial has got the wrong year, wrong rank and wrong unit. |
