Thanks to a good bit of help from Alex Morris, worked out that Joseph Love was Lance Corporal 3/3926 of the Black Watch... lived at Red Row in Plean (found him on the valuation roll for 1915) and was also able to download his will from Scotlandspeople.

I have heard that a new name has been added to the Plean War Memorial. If anyone happens to be passing with a camera, it might be an idea to update the photos. If not, I'll see to it in the summer...

Methinks I've found James McIntyre number two:
CEF reg. no. 812 died 8th May 1915 and commemorated on the Menin Gate at Ypres. His parents lived at Bamuir Cottage, Airth Road Station, Larbert.
As Airth Station is between Plean and Airth, and Alexander McFeat, who lived at the same place, is on the Plean memorial, I'm fairly sure it's him.

However, I can't find him on SNWM? He's on CWGC and I found his enlistment documents on a Canadian site. Also, how would I find out about his medal awards?

For a Canadian, his medal card should be with his service record. This site contains some useful tips for researching Canadians http://regimentalrogue.com/misc/researching_first_world_war_soldiers_part12.htm

There are many Canadian, Australian, NZ etc soldiers who were born in Scotland but not listed on SNWM (I must have come across more than a dozen and I wasn't looking). They should be on SNWM if they were born in Scotland or had a Scots parent but if SNWM weren't told then they weren't added. I don't know if such names are still being added or what degree of proof is required.

Thanks - interesting site. Unfortunately, there is only the enlistment form for him... maybe it hasn't been digitized yet?
Should I perhaps contact SNWM and ask about him?

Using the same logic as for James McIntyre, the James Menzies on the Plean memorial must be ASH Private no. 8887 - parents resided at Carnock Smithy, Airth Station... what do you think, folks?

Found an article today from the Stirling Observer dated 19 October 1915. A Private Hugh Reynolds from Plean recounts the battle of Loos.... and he mentions a Sandy Martin as one of the Plean men present. Reynolds was in the 10th Gordons. On CWGC there are only three Alexander Martins in the Gordons. I'm inclined to think Private S/5610 might be the one I'm after. What do any of you think?
