The original Chalmers Church was next to Union Street School, now known (Glengowen Primary) Union Street, Larkhall
Note: the remembrance marble tablet was inside the original Chalmers Church, and was built into the outside brick work at the New Chalmers Church in Strutherhill which indicates the name of all the church members who also participated in the war. This plaque include that of Hugh F. Dewar and his brother Joseph who were members of Chalmers Church Congregation.
The tablet is of beautiful design and workmanship in greyish marble. A connection with the engraving of the names of distinction has been made between those who fell and those who survived the names of the former being in letters of gold while those of the latter are in black lettering.
The sculptor was Mr A. Anderson Rhind from Hamilton

They are Sime on the civic war memorial

These 2 were my great grans brothers. The spelling of their names are wrong as they were Gavin and David SIM no E.

My great Grans husband my GGF Daniel Wallace was in the Scots Guards and the story goes that he passed David on the line the day David was killed. Davids body was never recovered an his M.I.C. states death accepted as 28/3/18.

Gavin spent 10 month in hospital before he died of wounds on the 5/5/16. He was wounded the day the btn. landed in France. I will have to get the war diary to see if he is mentioned because he must have been the first or one of the first soldiers to be wounded in the K.O.S.B.

I spoke to the man at the council a while ago and they said they were going to change it, when is another matter.

Looks like their names were recorded wrongly on two memorials in Larkhall.
