Capt Henry Maitland Macintosh was the son of the minister (Rev William Macintosh) and was born in Kelso. He represented Great Britain at the 1912 Olympic games and was part of the gold medal winning sprint relay team. He was killed in action on the Somme on 26th July 1918.

KINROSS SOLDIER KILLED IN ACTION.
Mrs Finnan, who resides in Swansacre, Kinross, received a letter yesterday from a cousin at the front, informing her that her husband, Private John Finnan, Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, had been killed by a bomb on the 23d inst.
He was 34 years of age, and was formerly a miner. Their eldest son was drowned when skating on Loch Leven in November last.

"Information has been received at Kinross that Lieutenant W. Keay-Falconer, junr., 7th Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders, was killed in action near Ypres early on April 25. Lieut. Keay-Falconer, who was 20 years of age, was educated at Edinburgh Academy, and for the last two years served in the O.T.C. connected with his school. On leaving school he got a commision as second lieutenant in the Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders (T.F.), and was promoted first lieutenant in the autumn of last year after his battalion was mobilised and stationed at Beford. He volunteered for service abroad immediately on the outbreak of the war, and went to France with his regiment in December. In addition to his education at Edinburgh Academy he took a vacation course at an educational institute at Namur. He spoke French fluently, and was in consequence of much use to his comrades when abroad. Lieutenant Keay-Faklconer was the only son of Mr W. Keay-Falconer, Clerk of Lieutenancy, and Sheriff and County Clerk of Kinross-shire."

Pte ROBERT P. KING, A&SH.

Named on the Galashiels War Memorial in Selkirkshire as:

PTE. ROBERT KING. Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders
Robert Patterson King – age 22 – Private (S/21538) 1/5th Battalion, Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders.
Robert and his family moved from Halliburton Place, Galashiels to Kinross after 1911 and Robert enlisted there. His battalion, after service in Palestine, moved from Egypt in 1918, landing at Marseilles in April.
Born 1896 in Galashiels. Son of Robert John King and Joan Douglas (Dobbie) King of 12 Smith Street, Kinross.
Killed in Action on 29 July 1918 and buried in Oulchy-Le-Chateau Churchyard Extension, Aisne, France.
