"Writing to his father, who resides at Bonnyside Terrace, Bonnybridge, Private James Douglas, 7th Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders, informs him, that his brother, John, of the same battalion, was killed in the fighting at Ypres on April 24. Private John Douglas, who was 23 years of age, enlisted in October, and after two months drilling proceeded to France. A brickmaker to trade, he was prior to enlistment employed in the Bonnyside Brickworks, Bonnybridge (Messrs James Dougall & Sons Limited)."

"Mrs Maloney, Bonnyside Terrace, High Bonnybridge, has received intimation that her husband, Private Patrick Maloney, Royal Irish Fusiliers, has been wounded in the head and removed to hospital. Maloney enlisted shortly after war was declared. He was employed in Messrs James Dougall and sons Brickworks, Bonnybridge."

"Private Patrick Maloney, Royal Dublin Fusiliers, who was admitted to Royal Herbert Hospital, Woolwich, about a fortnight ago, has succumbed to wounds received in France. His wife, who resides at Bonnyside Terrace, Bonnybridge, received notification of her husbands dangerous condition, and she was with him when he died. Private Maloney, who enlisted in January on the issuing of the householders' circular, was employed in Bonnyside Brickworks, Bonnybridge. He was 27 years of age and a native of Ireland. He was married five months ago."

Falkirk Herald, 1st July 1917, ‘Killed in Action’
On Wednesday, Miss Dougall, Woodlea House, Bonnybridge, received intimation that Sergeant Peter McNeil, who, prior to enlistment, was in her employment as a chauffuer, had been killed in action. Sergeant McNeil was 29 years of age and a native of Islay. He enlisted in the Black Watch eighteen months ago, and later was transferred to the Royal Engineers. A comrade, writing to Miss Dougall, states that Sergeant McNeil was killed while gallantly leading the men in a trench heavily shelled by the Germans.

Ewing was a Resevist, and had served throughout the South African campaign. He had been at the front since the commencement of hostilities. Prior to mobilisation Ewing was employed as a signal-fitter at Greenhill Station, Caledonian Railway Company."

I'm not sure how he is named on this memorial but the IWM memorial register lists him as FLETCHER, J.W.

He is named on the Galashiels War Memorial in Selkirkshire as:

PTE. JOHN FLETCHER. King's Own Scottish Borderers
John Fletcher – age 33 – Private (28656) 2nd Battalion, King's Own Scottish Borderers.
John had been a clerk with the Galashiels Co-operative Society and was a cashier with the Bonnybridge Co-operative Society in Stirlingshire when he enlisted.
Born 1885 in Galashiels as John Wilson Fletcher. Son of Thomas and Catherine (Wilson) Fletcher of Galashiels. Husband of Lily (Andreos) Fletcher of Falkirk Road, Bonnybridge who he married in 1910 in Bonnybridge.
Missing in Action on 29 June 1918 and named on the Ploegsteert Memorial, Belgium.
