Not sure if this link has been brought to anyones attention, but here is a link to the transcription of the letters which Alexander Arnot wrote and which were published in the Coatbridge Leader between 1914 and 1915:

Another brave man finally recognised and remembered.

I visited the memorial today. Unfortunately Theodore Gracie's details have been added incorrectly, as you can see:

We shall contact the authorities in the New Year.

Just found this post regarding Alice Maud Reid on page 2.
These are the details that are listed in the memorial Books at New St. Andrew's Church, Coatbridge....

Alice Maud Reid

Civilian War Dead
Women’s Auxiliary Air Force

Died at Sea 19th January 1942
R.M.S. “Lady Hawkins”

Daughter of Alice Maud Reid, 90 Kellock Avenue, Old Monkland, Coatbridge and the late Mr. Henry Sharp Reid.

Her name is listed on the following Memorial:

Coatbridge Civic Memorial.

There is a theory that Alice applied through the British Embassy to join the WAAF who sent her home to finish the process of enlistment and the next of kin were advised, incorrectly, that she was a WAAF.
Although listed as a War Civilian, it is thought Alice was returning home for training having enlisted in Canada. “Lady Hawkins” was torpedoed and sunk.
