Later "in memorium" show his mother also moved to Chicago.

The record of soldiers died in the Great War shows Robert was born in Nelson and enlisted in Saltcoats
The Burnley Express on Saturday 13 October 1917 in a column headed "NELSON SOLDIER'S DEATHS" had the following about Robert
"Mr and Mrs Brown, 25, Mosely -st., Nelson, have received official intimation of the death of their son, Pte Robert Brown, Royal Scots Fusiliers. A chaplain who wrote to Mr Brown said that he died of wounds at a clearing station in France on 26th September. Pte Brown was 22 years of age, and for eleven months worked on munitions in Scotland. He was formerly a weaver at Lomeshaye, and was on the roll of honour of Carr-road Wesleyan School"
