Today, a C.W.G.C. headstone was erected for Alexander Petrie at Blairgowrie Cemetery. He is officially 'in from the cold'  I am so happy
Alexander was Private T4/061835, Horse Transport, Army Service Corps. He was sent home to die of Pulmonary Tuberculosis. He had started with a cough “about Feb. 1916” and expectoration began “before end of August” (1916) but he was “kept at duty until end of Sept.” (1916). He was discharged on 30 November 1916 and died on 02 April 1917.
The process to get him recognised officially as WW1 War Dead began in January 2011. In August 2011, I learnt that my claim had been successful. Today, the quest is complete.

| The timing couldn't be better because niece Jessie and nephew Alexander (named after his late Uncle) will be up in Blairgowrie on 9th November. Alexander is laying a special wreath at the War Memorial. It is fate!!! |
