I just did a condition survey for this memorial at the request of the War Memorials Trust. I can't find any reference to this particular memorial here - should I post one?

There is information on War Memorials Online:

http://www.warmemorialsonline.org.uk/node/145625?sid=778

Also on Hidden Glasgow within this topic:

Hi Ian,

If you have photos and info feel free to post them in a new thread if we don't already have the memorial recorded.

If it's for the Merchant Marine it would probably go in the "Regiment and Unit" section in Glasgow.

If you need any help posting the memorial here please let me know and I'll try and assist you.

I don't think that this has been posted previously??

The former MACLAY Halls of Residence at Glasgow University (17 Park Terrace) was a home of Sir Joseph Paton Maclay. He donated the property to the University in memory of two of his sons (Ebenezer and William S.) who were killed in WW1.
http://glasgowuniversity.wordpress.com/2010/11/16/former-maclay-hall/

They are listed on the Kirkcolm War Memorial in Renfrewshire.
http://warmemscot.s4.bizhat.com/viewtopic.php?p=62329#62329

The Park Terrace property was sold to developers but the name was retained and used for new halls.

So are these a War Memorial?

Glasgow, Maryhill, Immaculate Conception Church

has a memorial.

"Take the photograph of a weathered and weed-bound memorial in the grounds of the Immaculate Conception Church in Maryhill Road. This carved stone honours Father Michael Gordon, an army chaplain killed when a shell hit his billet at Coxyde in Belgium in August 1917. It bears the inscription D.O.M. - Deo Optimo Maximo - "to the greatest and best God"."

There are both WW1 and WW2 memorial plaques in the Mitchell Library, Glasgow. Do you have them listed? The article appeared in The Journal of the Glasgow & West of Scotland Family History Society, March 2011, and the author goes on to describe her research into the 6 names.

Plans are underway to turn the former Lansdowne Church (see http://warmemscot.s4.bizhat.com/viewtopic.php?t=6224) into the Webster theatre.

At last report, this building houses 5 war memorials from various churches and some fine stained glass windows (are any of these memorials?).

The organisers need to raise a further £19.5K in the next 16 days in order to qualify for all of the other money offered from grants.

http://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/websters-a-new-glasgow-theatre if you feel you can donate anything.

Also http://www.eveningtimes.co.uk/entertainment/theatre/new-city-theatre-is-a-glass-act-159023n.23880677 for more info and I can send some further info - PM me with an email address if you would like it.

I chanced upon a longish newspaper article from late 1914 about the visit of a Gatehouse minister to Stobhill hospital. If anyone would like a copy of the article, please PM me with an email address to send it.
