"DREGHORN
MILITARY FUNERAL - On Wednesday afternoon the remains of Mr James Fulton, son of Mrs Fulton, Kirkbrae were laid to rest with military honours. A gun carriage and firing party came from Irvine, the latter marching in front with rifles upturned. After the party had fired three volleys over the grave the last post was sounded. There was a large turnout, and the street was lined with people. Much sympathy is felt for his mother, this being the second son she has lost in the war."

Thanks Adam. I was not aware I could advise CWGC about discrepancies on the record. Having looked at the site again I came across the "amendment form" but I do not think I have sufficient back up documentary evidence at present to ask them to make a change. I will do a bit more research on Francis.

Irvine Herald Friday July 23, 1915
"THE DARDANELLES OPERATIONS
4th Royal Scots Fusiliers
Heavy Loss of Ayrshire Officers
The 4th Royal Scots Fusiliers took part in the Dardanelles operations on 12th inst., and the casualty list printed on Monday shows that the losses among the officers has been very severe
IRVINE
The news which reached Irvine on Saturday afternoon last to the effect that two populars offices of the local Company of the Royal Scots Fusiliers were officially accounted for as "missing" at the Dardanelles caused a feeling of anxiety throughout the town. Captain Archibald Kenneth, who commanded "B" Company, is one of the missing officers and Second Lieutenant Matthew B McCall is the other.
Captain Kenneth was captain of the Irvine Company for several years prior to mobilisation in August last, and in military circles he was recognised as a very able and most efficient officer, being popular with the officers and the non-commissioned ranks. A son of Mrs Kenneth, Shewalton, he is a member of the well-known Ayrshire colliery firm of Messrs J Kenneth and Sons. Captain Kenneth was married about a year ago.
Lieutenant Matthew McCall ........
We sincerely hope that two such gallant officers have not lost their lives but are only temporarily lost to their country's service, and that the forcing of the Dardanelles, in which they were engaged, will see them restored safe and sound to their comrades"

Kilmarnock Standard 24 July 1915
CAPTAIN ARCH. KENNETH
Captain Arch. Kenneth (missing) was commanding officer of the Irvine Company of the 4th Battalion Royal Scots Fusiliers (Territorials) and for many years has been a keen enthusiast in connection with the Territorials. He is the eldest son of Mrs Robert Kenneth of Shewalton House, and as a member of the firm of Messrs A. Kenneth & Sons, Montgomeryfield and Shewalton Collieries, he is well-known in commercial circles throughout the West of Scotland. In June of last year Captain Kenneth was married to Miss Catherine Louisa Graham Campbell, a daughter of Mr R. Graham Campbell, Shirvan, Lochgilphead, Argyllshire, his younger brother, Mr James Kenneth, marrying on the same day another daughter of Mr Campbell’s, and the unique ceremony of the double wedding was made the occasion of rejoicing in the Dreghorn district. Captain Kenneth has been on active service since the outbreak of the war, and after leaving for the Dardanelles a son and heir was born to him at Shirvan. On Friday week the christening ceremony took place at Shirvan, the boy receiving the name of Archibald Graham.

Kilmarnock Standard 31 July 1915
"DREGHORN
Official notice was received by Mr James Muir, foreman baker to the Co-operative Society, on Monday, that his son, John Muir, had died of wounds received in action at the Dardanelles. Private John Muir, prior to the outbreak of war, was employed as a baker with the Dreghorn Co-operative Society Ltd. He joined the 1/4th Royal Scots Fusiliers in September last, and was 24 years of age, unmarried and resided with his parents. He was a quiet, steady, intelligent young man, and much sympathy is felt for his parents in their sore bereavement. He has a younger brother serving with the R.F.A., who was a member of the Irvine Company before war was declared. This makes the sixth soldier from Dreghorn reported killed, out of over 210 who enlisted.
News was received on Wednesday of this week by Mrs John Calderwood, jun., Main Street, Dreghorn, that her husband, Private John Calderwood of the R.S.F., had died from wounds received in action at the Dardanelles. He was wounded in the neck on 12th July, and was taken on board ship, but died on 22nd inst. This makes the seventh fatality reported from Dreghorn district. Information has been also received that Private Charles Muir, R.S.F., Private James Kerr, Station Row, and Private Buchan Littlejohn, Springside, have been wounded. Private H Bell, R.S.F., Dreghorn, has also been reported missing for some time."

Record of soldiers died in the Great War shows Buchan was born in Springside, Ayrshire and resided in Coalburn, Lanarkshire.

Kilmarnock Standard 4 November 1916
“SPRINGSIDE SOLDIER KILLED
A slight error occurred last week on Coalburn miner killed, as Springside has full claim in the soldier mentioned, viz, Lance-Corp Buchan Littlejohn of 2nd R.S.F., Machine Gun Section. He was 22 years of age and was … Springside, being the youngest son of the late William Littlejohn, Six Rows, Springside, Dreghorn. He resided all his days in the parish, and was employed as a miner in Messrs A Kenneth & Sons Shewalton pit when he enlisted September 4th 1914, shortly after the outbreak of war. He was sent to France after training and wounded in July 1915. He was home here during his convalescence and returned to the front in March …. He was killed in action in France on October 12th last, and official word was sent to his family(?) in Coalburn last week. He has two brothers reported missing …….” The rest of the article is not clear there is some reference to America
