Saw an unusual surname on the Tillicoultry memorial i can find nothing about.
WW1
Alexander Y. Enterkin
Nothing on CWGC/SNWM or N.A. M.I.C.'s...
Anyone able to find anything?

On Ancestry in Public Tree there is a family that might fit
Alex Y Enterkin b 1897 Edinburgh
Father John Enterkin Mother Robina Johnstone who married in Edinburgh.
By 1905 in South Africa no sure if it's the family or just John Enterkin.

A Mrs. Margaret Enterkin, Housewife, with her one year old son Alexander Enterkin of 13 Union Street, Tillicoultry sailed to Australia aboard SS 'Benalla' on 3rd August 1922.
On SP, there is a birth of an Alexander Enterkin in Tillicoultry in 1921, but it's not available to view online yet.
Maybe hubby died outwith the CWGC inclusion dates?
There are no deaths for an Alexander (or variants) anywhere in Scotland between the years 1914 - 1925.
There are 2 male Enterkin deaths, both Glasgow - James Maxwell Enterkin, age 1, in 1916 and John G. Enterkin, age 0 (or no age listed) in 1923.

No 'suitable' Marriages anywhere in Scotland for an Alexander (+variants) Enterkin.
No Alexander (+variants) Enterkins anywhere in Scotland on the 1911 Census.

One of my relatives died in 1919 and South African records are hard to find. So maybe he's records might be there. My one died of malaria.

I'm beginning to think that Alexander may have served under an alias.
His birth is indexed as Alexander Young Enterkine in 1898 in St.Andrews, Edinburgh.
John Enterkine had married Robina Johnstone in 1895 in Edinburgh.
In 1911 the Enterkin family, headed by Robina - a widow - were in Tillicoultry.
Robina, 43, John, 16, Alexander, 12, Helen, 11 and Norman, 9.
In 1915 at Margaret Place, Tillicoultry.
In 1920 the oldest brother, John, a coal miner of Union Street, Tillicoultry, married Margaret Watson Harrower. A witness was Norman Enterkin.
I assume they named their child after Alexander and that this is the Margaret that went to Australia????
But no sign of Alexander's death anywhere.

A little extra on the 1911 census - the family were at 4 Braehead
They did move about a bit !
Robina (a weaver) born Dunblane. John (a pit pony driver) born Hawick. Alexander born Edinburgh. Helen born Mid Calder and Norman born Paisley.

| There was an Alexander Enterkin in the Australian forces in WW2 - so not the one you're looking for. However, it does say born in Tillicoultry in 1921, so possibly a relative? |
