The Courier & Advertiser : Angus & Mearns edition, Local news Page 5:
Friday November 12 November 2010 :

SPECIAL ARMISTICE EVENT AT NORANSIDE :

Angus staged a special Armistice event as inmates of NORANSIDE PRISON gathered at a NEW MONUMENT in remembrance yesterday.

For the first time , the open prison held a formal REMEMBRANCE DAY event.

Chief Inspector of Prisons , Brigadier Hugh Munro travelled to Angus to participate in the event and local councillors and visiting committee members joined Noranside Staff and inmates in reflection during the Two Minutes silence. "

The newspaper has a photograph " Brigadier Hugh Munro salutes the new Memorial Cairn at Noranside yesterday ".

NB

I recall that Noranside in my younger days was a SANATORIUM until around the 1950s or so before becoming a Borstal and now Noranside Open Prison for Category D prisoners .

Seems that HMP Noranside open prison near Forfar has been sold to a developer for dwellinghouses so I don't know what has happened to the War Memorial that the inmates had during these recent years .
