Not at all sure if this is the right place for this post, but maybe someone can shift it to the proper thread if it isn't.

As you may know, I'm researching the people remembered on the Plean war memorial. While in Stirling Archives reading back numbers of the Stirling Observer, I came across the information that a J. Pick of Plean had been killed in an accident while serving with the ASC. He was a staff sergeant farrier, but is not mentioned on the memorial.

I'm fairly sure he is the man on CWGC with the regimental number T2/11207, so why isn't he on the memorial?

To complicate matters, I was up at Register House before coming back to France and had a quick glance at the soldiers' wills. Found a James Pick, with the above regimental number... cause of death: gunshot wounds, which would seem logical, given that there was a war on. But then in brackets it said "murdered"! Any ideas on how to find out more?

Great War Forum
http://1914-1918.invisionzone.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=18408&page=2

From Michael Young’s history of the ‘ASC 1902-1918’

ASC Co. 194
WF, 24th Division, Train (HQ) Company (HT)
Pte. T. Moore ASC was shot by firing squad on 26 February 1917 *
for the murder (by shooting) of Farrier SSgt. James Pick.
Moore’s name is on the Menin Gate in Ypres
And Pick is buried in Poperinge New Cemetery.

WO 95 2203

Regards
Michael D.R.

* This should read 1916 (not 1917) see my post below

I'm not sure if this link will work but here goes:
http://books.google.co.uk/books?id=nPqRAwAAQBAJ&pg=PA65&lpg=PA65&dq=driver+thomas+moore+army+service+corps&source=bl&ots=QhPnhsemfC&sig=k7bv3kEjmHWTFr9T2nYB__iD7-g&hl=en&sa=X&ei=J57cU7i_MZHB7AbxgoBo&ved=0CDIQ6AEwAg#v=onepage&q=driver%20thomas%20moore%20army%20service%20corps&f=false

I got it via a "Google" search on Driver Thomas Moore Army Service Corps.
It's an extract from "Shot at Dawn" by Julian Putkowski and Julian Sykes and describes in some detail the events leading to the shooting of Sgt. Pick (who lived at Bannockburn).

His MIC states died (murdered) 11.2.1916.

I downloaded the image, so if you want a copy, send me a PM with your personal e-mail.

Yes Ken it did work. That's great thanks! It mentions transcipt of court martials... would these be online somewhere do you think?

Thanks for the offer Anne, but I have also downloaded the card now from Ancestry...

Any ideas why he wasn't included on the war memorial? Maybe he's on a different one?
