There are 2 MMs in WW1 and 2 in WW2, unusual on such a small memorial. It is very helpful to have the dates of death noted on the memorial. Note too that one name dates from 1925.

From checking his death certificate, I have learned that William Campbell died 27 April 1925 from "tubercular disease originating in shell wound. Long continued suppuration and exhaustion". He was 29 years old, and was listed as a blacksmith. He was unmarried.

Clearly his death was attributable to his war wounds but he falls outwith the criteria for inclusion by the CWGC. He is, at least, remembered here.

I thought that I would do something a little different and make a very short video of this memorial which is now on youtube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=drydUkd0MYM.

Please let me know if you think this is a good idea and I might try a few more. Sorry this one is so amateurish, my first attempt.

Excellent idea Paul. I was swithering about trying something similar to this for the new Merchant Navy memorial in Leith. Now I've seen what you've done I'll give it a try when the weather improves. (snow again here just now)

Kind regards

Adam
