Dear all - I am in process of finishing my 'virtual memorial' to my home town dead of WW1. A sizeable number served in and died fighting with Scottish Regts.
It is my ultimate ambition to have an illustrative picture for each entry. Failing that, anything remotely connected to the person will be much welcomed. Thus if you have anyone on your memorial connected to 1. the Ballymena area of Co. Antrim (Portglenone, Kells, Glenwherry, Ahoghill, Broughshane, Clough, Cullybackey etc etc) I would be very glad of your help.
IN return, if any forum member finds something of interest on my site, I will provide the best info and pics I can.
Thanks for your time in reading this.

I see there is a William Sinclair listed on the Bellshill War Memorial
Perhaps it is the same man. Hopefully we can find a few more. Thanks for posting this excellent information.
Regards

hello there
I've just had a wee quick look at your site, as my great uncle was in the 1st Bn Irish Guards, Lance Corporal James Redmond 6445. His date of death is 16/03/1917 and he is buried in Sailly-Saillisel British Cemetery.
Story passed down is that his father was born in Ballymena, then moved to Scotland where he married and James was born in Barrhead.
Do you know where he may have enlisted and what memorial he should be on ? I would really appreciate some help as I really am a complete novice!

ps
I will go back to your site and try to make contact with you there as well |

The name you are looking for now is Christie Simpson (middle name Redmond) . There is still a Dr. Tony Redmond in Broughshane outside Ballymena. Possible link? _________________ These Scotsmen can say what they want about how good they are at piping. I have only three words in reply ... Field Marshal Montgomery! |
