I can now confirm that I have put together a case for Isaac Rosenberg and this is being forwarded to MOD / CWGC for consideration. It has pased the initials checks, is now in the system and have no doubt that it will suceed. I am currently trying to locate his grave.
Thanks for highlighting his situation and drawing it to my attention.
Well done in finding him. |

Hello All,
Good news! Have just received an email that Isaac Rosenberg "qualifies for commemoration as a commonwealth war casualty".
Jim, have forwarded the email to you.

Mags
This follows from the case I submitted on your behalf in February but he has not completed the process yet.
The CWGC note is a little premature ( IFCP received the same) but it does mean that Rosenburg will be added to their Register in future.
It is at that point that we ( IFCP) will announce the new commemoration.
This is one of two early indicators on our cases we have received this week– this one from 2014 and another from 2009. _________________ Jim

Is it just coincidence that he has the same name as the famous WW1 english poet who was killed on 1st April 1918? or is there a family connection? |

Hello,
Think it may be a coincidence. however, never say never!
The parents of Isaac on this thread were Polish, married Germany in 1877. Two siblings were born Germany then Isaac was born Edinburgh in 1885.
Isaac the Poet was born Bristol in 1890. His parents came from Dvinsk, now in Latvia. On census returns they gave their birth place as Russia.
Perhaps someone will know more of the geography and/or history of the countries and can add more.
