Dundee Advertiser Wednesday 3rd August 1921

MEMORIAL GIFT TO KIRRIEMUIR

Kirriemuir has been supplied with a long felt want in the form of public baths, the gift of Lady Lyell,Kinnordy,as a memorial to her son,Major Lyell. The baths are created adjacent to the Temperance Hotel in School Wynd, and are beautifully fitted up in the latest style.A small hall, available for pic-nics and small gatherings,at a very moderate cost,is included in the buildings.

As far as i am aware the baths were superceded by the pool at Webster`s High School.Does anyone know if the buildings survive and if there is a memorial tablet on them?

Major Lyell`s son won the VC and died in WW2-details on the Forum.
