Whitburn War Memorial
Location: Memorial Gardens off Manse Road
OS Ref: To follow
Recently vandalised this memorial has now been thoroughly cleaned and you would never know it had been defaced.
Note that a casualty for Northern Ireland in 1976 was added to the main panel. Unfortunately Whitburn has recently suffered another service casualty in Iraq and an extra panel has been added on the base. I'm sure all concerned with adding the panel hope it wont be filled.
It says 'Roberts S' on the base in this next photo

The second man on this memorial is almost impossible to find on CWGC without knowing his middle name, which isn't on the memorial, and is the first part of his double barrelled surname.
It's unknown what his connection with the area is.
