ROBERTSON, JOHN, DFM. Flight Lieutenant, RAF. Wireless Operator/Air Gunner, late Bomb Aimer, on No. 97 Squadron, Bomber Command. One of the first to take an 800-lb bomb over enemy country. Operational flights to Cologne, Bremen, Hamburg, Berlin, Le Creusot, and Genoa. Bomb Aimer on the plane which carried BBC correspondent Richard Dimbleby to bomb Berlin, 16/1/43. Awarded DFM, June 1943. Killed when plane crashed, 11/3/45.

ROXBURGH, THOMAS W. Lieutenant, Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders. Drafted to India, 1940. Dropped with battalion behind enemy lines by glider and parachute at the battle of Kohima and Imphal, April 1944. After forced marches "led the dawn attack" (at Kasom) "upon the Japanese position...the enemy were completely routed" (letter from O.C.). During a counter attack, killed by a sniper, 15/4/44. Had he survived this battle he would have take up an appointment as O.C. all airborne troops in Dimipur. Buried at Imphal, Burma.
