(Glasgow Herald 2nd June 1915)
"The death is officially announced of Sergeant John Reid, 1st Battalion Seaforth Highlanders, who fell in action on May 9. He was 30 years of age, and leaves a widow who resides at Robertson's Buildings, Dunkeld Road. He enlisted when 15 years of age, and spent nine years in the Army. Reid belonged to Perth, and worked as a Postman in the city."

The article gets forename and age wrong, but still the same man.

"The death is officially announced of John Dorris, Gordon Highlanders, whose parents reside at 12 Meal Vennel, Perth. Dorris received his wounds on May 9, and succumbed in a hospital at Bolougne on May 24. He was 19 years of age, and enlisted in the Gordons at the beginning of the war."

"The death is officially reported of Private John Donaldson, Black Watch, whose married sister resides at Goodlyburn Terrace, Perth. Private Donaldson, who was about 44 years of age, joined the Black Watch about 17 years ago. He served through the South African campaign. On leaving the army as a Reservist Donaldson served as a Police constable in Glasgow, but he was working as a bushman in Australia at the outbreak of war."

RICHARDSON, W. Stretcher Bearer, 1/4th King's Own Scottish Borderers.

Named on the Galashiels War Memorial in Selkirkshire as:

PTE. WILLIAM RICHARDSON. King's Own Scottish Borderers
William Richardson – age 39 – Private (201528) 1/4th (Border) Battalion, King's Own Scottish Borderers.
William was a fruit merchant's traveller, living at 6 Bordeaux House, Kinnoull Street Perth when he married in 1909. He enlisted in Galashiels and joined his battalion as Private (8632) possibly serving in Palestine before the battalion moved to France in April 1918. William was a stretcher-bearer when he was killed.
Born 1879 in Ancrum, Roxburghshire. Son of William Richardson and the late Jessie (Gladstone) Richardson (died 1916) of St. Boswell's, Roxburghshire. Husband of Elizabeth (Mitchell) Richardson of 54 Scott Street, Perth who he married in 1909 in Perth.
Died of Wounds on 3 October 1918 and buried in Proville British Cemetery, France.

RODGIE, WM. Pte. Royal Scots

Named on the Haddington War Memorial in East Lothian as:

WILLIAM RODGIE. ROYAL SCOTS
William Rodgie – age 24 – Private (325556) 1/8th Battalion, Royal Scots.
William was a barber living at 57 High Street, Haddington when he enlisted as Private (1876) in December 1915. He joined his battalion in France in July 1916 but he was killed a month later.
Born 1892 in Perth. Son of the late Charles Angus Rodgie (died 1915) and of Lillias (Donaldson) Rodgie of High Street, Perth and of Victoria Road, Deal, Kent. Husband of Mary Amos (Souness) Rodgie of 57 High Street, Haddington who he married in 1916 in Haddington.
Missing in Action on 1 August 1916 and named on the Thiepval Memorial to the Missing of the Somme, France.
Also named on the St Mary's Church memorial in Haddington.
