This seems to be quite a high proportion of female names compared with other WW2 rolls of honour I have seen. |

It looks like a high proportion to me. I thought, at first, that they may have been employed at the munitions facility at St Boswells (Charlesfield) but I see they are land army, ATS, WAAFs etc. |
