The Gymnasium building at Edinburgh Academy is the school's war memorial.
The WW1 plaques are on either side of the main doorway.
The WW2 plaques are mounted above the lower doors.
Photographs were from Margaret and Graham Wright of Gatehouse of Fleet.
www.gatehouse-folk.org.uk

I have removed the photobucket logos.

There are Rolls of Honour linked to the names on these plaques.

Thank you for that, Ken.
I didn't realise CWGC had the bit about re-interring some bodies. We can't be certain John Thomson was one of them but it looks pretty likely.

I'm writing profiles of all the lads on the church war memorial for the monthly newsletter (possibly then compiled into a booklet "for posterity") so any information is very welcome.

The GWGC have now published the original paperwork for each burial. In Thomson's case it shows he was originally buried in Thulin New Communal Cemetery alongside some German dead.

Most concentrations happened in the immediate post-war period, especially in Belgium, however the British graves in Thulin were concentrated as late as 1954.
