Boston Church in Station Road, Duns opened in 1839 as a chapel-of-ease, although some sources hint that this may have had more to do with some evangelical members of the community looking ahead, rather than a need for additional capacity. In any case - belonging as it did to its trustees not the Church of Scotland - it became the Free Church for Duns following the Disruption in 1843. By 1900 it was one of 3 United Free churches, then by the 1929 reunion one of 4 Church of Scotland churches in the county town.

Note that 'Boston' comes from Thomas Boston, the famous churchman - a Duns native.

While under UF auspices, it was linked or united with Langton UF in nearby Gavinton on 11th September 1927, dissolved 5th June 1932. It united with the parish church (Duns Old) on 1st February 1953 as Duns Old & Boston, in the parish church building. Boston Memorial Church became a hall then a textile factory, then was demolished in 1985 - replaced by Boston Court sheltered housing, which retains the old bell 'Auld Drumclog' as a feature.

Note - some sources give this as Duns South UF's plaque, but Rev Corkey was Duns Boston UF minister from 1909 to 1927.
