I am not reading rejected into that, but could be wrong. I have some information from a relative.

I think this is John, discharged 1919 http://search.ancestry.co.uk/iexec?htx=View&r=5538&dbid=2456&iid=wo329_3223-00044&fn=John&ln=McKechnie&st=r&ssrc=&pid=801080 Am not certain though.

I think here, they are counting Colin as one of the six.

Colin ASC Died pneumonia 1918
Lachlan Scottish Horse kia 1915

John wounded at some point, then discharged from the Army unfit for further service
CSM Neil HLI, Angus and Malcolm all survived the war

"Private D. K. Campbell,of the 7th Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders, was killed in action on April 25. A chum had already reported that he was wounded on that date, while going to assist the Canadians, who were "gassed" at that time. Private Campbell was about 27 years of age, and was engaged as a foundry warehouseman at Falkirk when war broke out. He was a son of Mrs Campbell, Prospect Place, Pitlochry."

The May/June 2018 edition of History Scotland includes an account of a visit to France and Flanders to commemorate the Battle of Cambrai. In it the author relates an account that relates to George Scougall: "My father tells the story of great-grandfather McLennan being injured at Cambrai on 23 November 1917 far better than me: - Roderick McLennan had been hit as a German plane strafed British lines. He struggled back with blood pouring from his wound and soaking his tunic and Mackenzie tartan kilt and apron. He was saved by a private from the Royal Scots who left his trench and carried him to safety. The soldier turned out to be his cousin Kenny Scougall [Kenny was the family name: Private George Scougall, 1/9th Royal Scots, who were on the right of the 1/7th Argylls] who had no idea whom he had rescued until back at the dressing station. He was awarded the Military Medal for his action. Unfortunately he succumbed with the flu epidemic of 1918."
