Our Lady Immaculate & St Margaret's opened in 1883 to serve the Roman Catholic community from all of Berwickshire.
It is on the east of Duns, the county town.
It also accomodated many Polish troops stationed here during WWII.
Striking lighting chosen for this memorial arrangement.

PJ Donoghue
Earlier I thought I had figured-out which are WWI and which WWII, by the alphabetic ordering.
12 WWI and 3 WWII casualties would be in line with the county average.
But unfortunately that wouldn't explain why PJ Donoghue is last.
Also the 2 adjacent Donoghues and Haynes initials aren't in order.
So more investigating needed. |

Well you were quite right
Peter John Donoghue – age 21 – Sergeant (1365471) 120 Squadron, Coastal Command, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. Died 12 August 1942.
George William Wheeler – age 21 – Flight Sergeant (1552002) 15 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. Died 25 July 1944.
but I cannot trace A O'Brien. He is listed on the Burgh War Memorial as:
LIEUT. A. O'BRIEN, R.N.
Can anyone find him????? _________________ Ken |
