When the weather is decent, I'll try to get photos of the Polish Memorial in Duns Public Park; there's a picture of it in the Duns civic thread but only a front view.
Substantial numbers of Polish units were stationed in Berwickshire.
However, this 'memorial' also exists, on the outside of the Sheriff Court.

Sadly it's rusting badly.
Duns Sheriff Court is to close in a few years under the latest justice cuts. |

Here are pictures of the Polish Memorial in Duns Public Park... to 127 men of the Polish 1st & 2nd Armoured Regiments - they were stationed around Duns in the middle years of the war, before the invasion of Europe.
There's a story of them blowing up cairns while practicing on local moors...
Logic would indicate that the lefthand side, with a symbol of a 1 on a tank, is the 1st Regiment; and the righthand side the 2nd Regiment.

Inscriptions on sides. Ground aluminium remains remarkably crisp.
