UKNIWM: 54121 and 54122

Longformacus Parish Church closed on Sunday 26th May 2013 and is "For Sale" by the Church of Scotland for £50,000:
http://www.churchofscotland.org.uk/about_us/property_and_church_buildings/properties_for_sale/properties/churches_and_halls/longformacus_church,_duns

Its interior has been gutted of fittings.

Its rolls are currently in the care of Longformacus Village Hall and were in the cellar until my visit. However the member of the hall committee who I met informed me that there are plans to have them mounted on the walls.

I include here pictures & exteriors (hall and church).

Second World War
13 served

First World War casulaties

Buckham, John - 4th KOSB
Holme, Alex. Charles - Lieut, 1st Gloucestershire Regt
Holme, Ronald Henry Paul - Lieut, 2nd KOSB
Leitch, James - 4th KOSB
Maclaren, Bernard - Black Watch
Scott, George - 4th KOSB
Waldie, Archibald - Black Watch

7 of the 8 men are among the 13 listed on Longformacus civic memorial... Waldie being the exceptional... and these same 7 are among the same 13 on the Longformacus Parish 'Roll of Honour'.

Both the Holmes... plus Archibald Waldie... also appear on the Cranshaws Church 'Roll of Honour'.

There was a United Free Church in Longformacus.

Nearest Roman Catholic and Episcopal churches were in Duns.
