Additional information: Son of Alice McNAB of Islay Hotel, Port Ellen, Islay and the late John McNAB.

Census. 1901. Scotland. Kildaltan and Oa, Islay. John McNAB. Age 11. Scholar. Islay Hotel, Charlotte Street, Port Ellen.

John McNAB joined the Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders Territorial Force on 29 May 1908 at Port Ellen, aged 17 years and 8 months. At that time he was a clerk at P.J. Mackie & Co., Port Ellen.
He served in France & Flanders from 1 May 1915.
John McNAB was invalided out of the army in January 1918 because of pulmonary TB. He died at home on Islay in May 1919.
