Hope this works. Have another taken from farther back and then close- ups of the names. But this is going to take time I think! Rolling Eyes

What do you think?

Might need to check your settings, I don't think you're allowing the album to be shared.

problem is that the link you have posted is not the image tag, it's the page that the image is on. you cannot post a page within a page. The correct link should end with .jpg

not that familiar with photobox, I need to find out where you get the correct link from

Tanya asked me post some of her photos - so here goes.

The memorial at Sennecey le Grand was inaugurated on 4 September 1984 to honour all Officers and Men from the Special Air Service Regiment who gave their lives for freedom. The inauguration was attended by a large contingent from all three countries involved and included David Stirling himself. The memorial includes the names of all SAS casualties of the 1st and 2nd SAS (British), 3rd and 4th SAS (French) and 5th SAS (Belgian).

Special Air Service Regiment Memorial
(The SAS Brigade Memorial Sennecey-Le-Grand)

Press Release – Sennecey le Grand 4 September 2002

As a result of a project to compile an accurate Roll of Honour for the Regiment, a further 96 names of British SAS and a number of French SAS casualties were added to the memorial at Sennecey-le-Grand in 2002. Although the names were known to the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, they had not been recorded as being SAS. These names were engraved on the memorial and it was re-dedicated at a ceremony on the 4th September 2002.

Ernest Herstell died during a 2nd SAS mission to Pantelleria in May 1943. Code named 'Snapdragon', the object was to capture a prisoner for interrogation. The team of 8 soldiers were landed from the RN Submarine HMS Unshaken late on the night of 28th May 1943. Having scaled the cliffs in the vicinity of Punta Kharace, a fight ensued during which Ernest Herstell was killed. The rest of the team returned safely to the waiting submarine. My father served in HMS Unshaken, and I am researching and writing about her service, including this incident. I would like to make private contact with Kenneth Morrison to share further information I have about the incident.
