The cross stands near the John Street entrance to the park, not far from the battalion HQ in Bridgeton. It was unveiled on Sunday 16th October 1921 by Colonel Clark, honourary colonel of the battalion. In his speech the colonel gave an account of the battalion which was mobilised in August 1914 and proceeded to Gallipoli in May 1915 and was involved up to the evacuation from the peninsula in January 1916. From there it served in Egypt and Palestine until April 1918 when it was transferred to France. About half of the NCO's and men who were mobilised in 1914 were killed.

No David it hasn't been moved. There has been a lot of replanting and other gardening work been going on in the park and they have removed the trees and other bushes from around the Memorial.
