I had a look on 'FamilySearch'. Jacob Plank and Sophia Teddish (I am assuming this is the same family) had, between 1856 & 1867, 7 children all registerd in Westray and Papa Westray, Orkney.

Hi Adam,
In regard to William Dawson, S/8064, Gordons, K-I-A 8th April 1917 in Arras - he lived at 28 Bridge Street, Rothesay with his parents William and Mary.
In the 1911 Census he was working at "South Saint Colmac" farmstead, North Bute.
I have also discovered that he made out a Will in November 1914.
The next time I visit the UK, I shall look in at the Rothesay Library and check all the newspaper archives for any further information.
Keep up the good work!
Best wishes,
Brian Dawson

I have a copy of the Roll of Honour for Rothesay and Bute - it's in the pipeline for one of the projects for the SMRG to transcribe and digitise.

If there's sufficient interest I might bump it up the list.

Derek

Can you make out any answers on Private Cameron's attestation paper?

If he's not on SNWM I'm sure Lt Col Binks would like to know about him.

Thanks

Adam

Yes, i played around with the image a bit, the next of kin is "Mother E. Cameron" address "7 Strathview Gardens, Bearsden, Scotland", which ties in nicely with the newspaper info.

The Canadian Great War Project person managed to figure out the rest and it is in the entry Ken provided a link to. He was born 1888 and was a bank manager.

I believe SNWM will now only consider new commemoriations if they come from a family member who also has documentary proof. SNWM Q4
