So we're at least on google.

Onwards and upwards. The more recognition we get, the higher placed we'll be!

Interesting again. I think I got to page four or five on google before throwing it in.
I want to see us at number 1 on the first page though Smile .
This is becoming and undoubtedly will be the place for info on our War Memorials (although I'm intrigued by David's "I don't want to say too much until it's ready to launch" from last night!)
Actually through the site I have been learning more about our 'Parish' and 'Church' history - very fulfilling.
It's going to be quite a lot of field work and it's actually mind blowing whats lying out there - the more you dig.....
I actually enjoy getting out and about there but thought about putting a bit in the press locally so those with knowledge of like items can contribute (I've been down that road before though - hit or miss). I know for Perth there is a memorial in the Prison, I have noted one for the old Perth Post Office (where is it now) the old GAFLAC etc. I'll see how far I can get though.

Trust me, I think you'll like it.

I honestly don't want to say too much at this stage until we're ready to go. I don't want to ruin the surprise.

I will say this though: some people on here have already done some of the legwork for this, and we're pulling various strands together to make quite a useful resource....

I'm saying too much here.... Very Happy

Just as a marker so we can see how we progress; in google a search for "scottish war memorials" (without quotes) brought us in at number 84 today. I have asked a few correspondants to include a link to our site because I know that the number of external links weights the google results.

Just checked today and we are now number 80 Sad

The more links we have on other websites, the more chance we have of moving up.

We should try and take every opportunity to get our name mentioned on other forums, websites, etc. Al lthis, however, takes time, and time is something which I seem to have less and less of every day!

I should add that there is now a link to this forum on the UK National Inventory of War Memorials.

That may draw in a few more members...

We are now also on the North-East War memorial Project website.

I tried putting 'Scottish War Memorials' into Google just now. For the UK only our link on the War Memorials Trust Links page gave us third slot after two entries for Andy Arthur's webpages.

For the web the same link came fifth, the same two for Andy Arthur and another two for the SNWM.

We're getting there slowly but surely. Incidentally I used a link through the NEWMP website rather than using the link in my favourites toolbar to log in just now. Hopefully that little tactic every time I log in might help our ratings.

Regards

Adam

I'm surprised I'm in at 81, last week I wasn't even showing up.

I don't think it is a coincidence that the two entries are next to each other. Every time I go into the forum I go through my site. I click on the Highland war memorials link and then always go through Advie War Memorial. It's always the same path. It looks like it is paying off.

Before I set up my excuse for a website I was going through the North East War Memorials Project Links page. I'm now using my own site, Perhaps others should do the same. If they have their own website make a link to the forum and go through that.

Alternatively go through my site http://swmdf.bravehost.com/ I don't know if it makes a difference going through a memorial or straight to the index.

I'd better try and make some improvements now I'm on Google!

Cheers

Adam
