Leonard Lockley seems to have moved a bit, starting his career in the Royal Warwickshire Regt before moving to the Royal Innis Fus and then finally to the Seaforths. As far as I know, he had no connection to Scotland other than his regiment so is unlikely to be commemorated on a memorlal in Scotland (apart from SNWM of course). His parents lived in Portsmouth.

So why am I posting? Well, he is one of only 2 British soldiers known to be buried in the German Cemetery at Langemark which I visited last summer. I note from his MIC that his medals were never applied for (if I interpret the entry correctly).

Leonard was born Sept.Q. 1899 in Ryde, Isle of Wight the son of Henry (Harry) Lockley and of Emily Morey Lockley. In 1911 the family were living in Portsmouth, Hampshire.

Ken

As a private soldier his medals ( War and Victory) should have been sent to his NOK, only officers had to apply for them. It appears they were unable to deliver them and later requested authority to dispose of them.
