Stephen Fry recently tweeted about this memorial. It is is in the Edinburgh College of Art.

Jim McGinlay, who see it as a reliquary, kindly passed on the link for the photograph above and this information:

The Scotsman:

'They had some difficulty in obtaining a complete list of those who fell...so it was though inadvisable to have the names...inscribed on the memorial'
Instead the list was inscribed on parchment and put in the bronze casket

Designed by F.C. Mears, architect and Mr C. d'O Pilkington-Jackson, a staff member and former student 'who were both comrades in arms as well as colleagues with the men whom the memorial commemorated'

Has anyone approached the college to see if the names on the parchment could be viewed?

No, but I'm sure there is a also a published roll of honour in one of the libraries in the city which will mean the casket will not need to be opened.
