Exactly my sentiments.
Don't waste your breath on them listening to you though Adam. Shocked

A bit harsh I think - whilst they may not have jumped at your suggestion, I'd suggest that there are more than a few members of this forum have come from there.

If nothing else happens it was a chance to plug this forum again.

We'll see what happens...

It would probably help if GWF sorted its upgrade out so that we can make contact.
I am not a Scot but I now enjoy this forum and it has done a power of good for my Female records.

Gents

Nothing against the GWF. I was hoping my post might generate some posts which would lead to other versions of this forum for other countries. It was a thread on the GWF which led to this forum.

Unfortunately nothing came of the thread I started which is a shame because I for one would have been very interested to see what other countries came up with to commemorate their war dead.

Regards

Adam

Going back to Jim's original post there seems to be a very ambitious project which could be used to post photographs of north American war memorials.

http://www.waymarking.com/cat/details.aspx?f=1&guid=a03241a5-6eb6-4238-81e5-984fa1f33b0a&ls=39159

I've never heard of waymarking before. Here's the blurb - 'Waymarking.com provides tools for you to catalog, mark and visit interesting and useful locations around the world.'

Here's their aim of the particular waymark category I've linked to:

'Description:This category seeks to waymark all World War I Memorials and Monuments, big and small, located throughout the world. This category applies to general memorials erected by cities, counties, towns, villages and nations to honor native soldiers as a group. (Monuments and memorials to individual soldiers of WWI are not permitted.) Please click on "show additional information" below to see requirements for posting in this category'

It's not exactly the same as this site but it does mean memorials are photographed and a location pin is added to a Google local map.

Regards

Adam
