I can't see Bell Street U.F. Church anywhere on the forum - it is referenced in the below article. Sorry if I have missed it, and please feel free to remove or move this info!
DUNDEE CHURCHES' WAR TABLETS.
IMPRESSIVE CEREMONIES.
War memorial tablets were dedicated in St Paul's U.F. and Bell Street, U.F. Churches, Dundee, yesterday.
On the St Paul's tablet are thirty names, and Rev. James Weatherhead said some would have liked to have had the name of the battalion, rank, and the battle in which the soldier gave his life inscribed on the tablet, but the office-bearers had agreed that simply the names should be placed thereon, as all these other things paled into insignificance before the fact that they died, and died for us. After the reading of the names on the roll, a piper in the tower of the church played "The Flowers of the Forest," while other appropriate music was rendered by the organist.
The names on the tablet, which is placed in the vestibule of the church, are:-
Albert Aitken, Alex. S. Archibald, Alex. Bonnar, Alex. Culross, Wm. B. Bethune Duncan, Thomas Dand, James Elder, James Forrester, Thos. Fyffe, David Gellatly, George Jamieson, George Knight, David Leighton, George H. M'Donald. Wm. Manzie, Harold Y. Martin, James Mudie, John M'Glashan, Alexander M'Swain, Robert M’Swain, Neil M'Vicor, Wm. D. Nicol, Edward Pike, Geo. T. Rattray, Wm. Reid, John M. Sinclair, Alex. R. Thomson, Robert J. Watson. George Wynd, George Young.
Fought for Scottish Independence
"These men have fought for the liberty of our Scottish independence, the right to live a man's life in a man's way, and not to marshalled and organised as a machine. We could not erect any better memorial for these brave men than to live for the things for which they gave their lives."
These solemn words were uttered by Rev. T. Cunningham Fraser, minister of Bell Street U.F. Church, when by drawing aside the covering folds of the Union Jack he unveiled the congregation's memorial to the twenty-one members and adherents of the church who fell in the war.
After the unveiling, the "Last Post" was sounded by Bandsman R. M'Leary, Royal Naval Division, and the "Dead March" in “Saul " was played on the organ. The solemn sounding of the "Reveille" then rang through the church.
The following are the names of the men:-
Peter Adamson, R.A.M.C.: David H. Anderson C.E.F.: John Anderson, R.A.M.C.: George Brunton, R.N.D.; Thomas H. Dargie, Royal Scots; David M Glass, Black Watch; Robert P. Innes, Royal Scots; John D.
