Unveiled by the Duke of Atholl - May 18th 1924
Quite an unusual concept. Will have to try and find out a little more of the background. Unless someone on the forum can help? |

Is the plaque in a massive boulder? How would you describe this memorial? It is unusual

Adam,
Notes from Historic Scotland;
Description:
Paved hemicycle with standing stone: bronze plaques.
c. 1920.
I must, when I get time, get through a local paper to uncover the thinking/meaning behind it.

I stayed at the Atholl Arms about four years ago. No camera, but I did nip out and buy a pad and pen.
BLAIR ATHOLL, PERTHSHIRE
Memorial at North end of village opposite the Atholl Arms Hotel. A semi-circular wall encloses a large boulder with the dates 1914 and 1918 inscribed on its face.
