The excellent Scotlands People website has had a facelift as of today.
The search options have been refined too which can only help.
btw, on the topic of improved search options, the CWGC monthly newsletter (abody will have received I'm sure) has the annual feedback form linked into it. So get those improved search engine requests put in!

Thanks for the tip about scotlandspeople, Derek.
Looks as though they have finally sorted out Kelton Parish (Castle Douglas) which for years was indexed as Dumfriesshire instead of Kirkcudbrightshire. _________________ Ken |

I don't think the soldiers wills are included in this. I did a search which would have included a name I know is definitely there- no result for that name. |

I've also failed to find a good few i've looked for too, but I have found others. Perhaps it's only those with an actual will, not the paybook army version?

The paybook army will is a fully legal document so I don't see any reason why they would not be included.

It seems a lot of War Returns have been rescanned, I've looked up some I'd previously downloaded and they're much better quality.
If anyone wants any of the copies i have relating to specific regiments of battalions for their own interest, let me ken as I've just sorted all mine out!

Frustratingly the K.O.S.B. returns, unlike most other regiments, have casualties from various battalions on each page of the War Returns.
These have not been rescanned yet, i've two pages feturing men of the 1/4th I'll email you.
[edit - i found another 2 pages with a man or two from the 1/4th mentioned also. email sent]
