This Dunnichen church war memorial plaque is on the Dunnichen Church communion table within the church . During the recent years this church merged with Letham Parish church and there was some talk in the area that the Dunnichen church which is the third on the site would be closed and sold but Ive not heard of any further in this topic and the minister for Letham moved from the Parish so maybe that idea has closed for the time being !

The Church of Scotland has directed that the DUNNICHEN CHURCH be closed during the month of AUGUST 2011 and the Church of Scotland will then put the church up for sale .

Dunnichen , Kirkden and Letham is now one congregation with only Dunnichen and Letham churches in use as Kirkden was closed in the 1950s and its roof removed but the WW 1 war memorial in that Kirkden church left in situ )

Today I contacted Angus Councillor and Letham (dunnichen) church elder David Lumgair and asked him about the War Memorial communion table in Dunnichen church and he said that they were deciding on what to do with the items . I told him about the War memorial table with the WW1 WW2 memorial plaques on the top and he was not aware of there being any on the top of the table . He is now to look into the matter now that he is aware of there being war memorial plaques on the top of the Communion table !

I have today managed to get into the Letham Church of Scotland church in the village to see the rededicated church ( and renovated church with no old pews etc) .

This Letham church has in the church the Communion table that was formerly in Dunnichen church when it closed last year after 150 or so years .

The communion table has the names of the Dunnichen Church who laid down their Lives in WW1 and in WW2 .

I am very pleased that the church in Letham have kept this Communion table /War Memorial to the fallen of these two world wars
